Why Plungee?
My name’s George Gaddum, and I grew up on a farm in Hawke’s Bay where summers were spent outdoors and in the water. Ever since I can remember, I’ve loved swimming, and to this day there’s nothing better than a morning Plungee, a quick lunchtime dip, and one last swim before bed.
That love of swimming is what inspired Plungee.
I started the business with one simple goal: to build beautiful, solid concrete plunge pools at a price more New Zealand families could afford.
Our pools are compact enough for modern homes, yet deep enough to properly swim, cool off and relax. They become the focal point of an outdoor space without taking over the entire backyard.
Unlike many small pools, every Plungee is manufactured from reinforced precast concrete with thicker walls and greater concrete mass. The result is exceptional strength, durability and thermal performance, creating a pool that’s built to last for generations.
Most importantly, I wanted to make owning a beautiful concrete pool achievable. Because I genuinely believe every Kiwi home deserves a Plungee.

The First Plungee at Tiger House
Back in 2020, I was restoring an old concrete barn at Tiger House in the Havelock Hills of Hawke’s Bay. Like most Hawke’s Bay summers, it was hot, dry, and crying out for a swimming pool. But with every spare dollar going into the renovation, building one simply wasn’t an option.
Then I looked across the paddock at an old concrete water tank sitting on the property and thought… why not?
I cut it in half, poured some concrete steps, installed a filtration system, and just like that, the first Plungee was born.
It wasn’t perfect, but it worked brilliantly.
Over the following summers, family, friends and guests spent countless hours swimming, jumping and cooling off in it. It quickly became the heart of Tiger House and proved something I’d never really considered before — a small concrete pool could deliver just as much enjoyment as one three times the size.
That old water tank sparked an idea.
What if I could build a beautiful concrete plunge pool that was affordable, built to last a lifetime, and small enough to fit almost any backyard?
Today, that’s exactly what Plungee is. Every pool is purpose-designed and manufactured from reinforced precast concrete right here in Hawke’s Bay, creating beautiful outdoor spaces where Kiwi families can swim, relax and make memories together.
It all started with an old water tank… and one simple idea.
